I can't say enough about our friendly knowledgeable local guide Hari who lead us on our 10 day trekking adventure to ABC, as well as the professional, friendly service provided by Trekking Team Group from our first meeting. We were able to discuss and arrange all the important details of our trek within a day of our arrival to Kathmandu. The next day we were off and trekking. The company was very professional, and arranged all of the logistics for us as we had requested, without any pressure to amend our plans. We were able to relax and enjoy the experience and the beautiful Himalaya at our own pace. It was wonderful and I will definitely request their services again on my next (I'm certain) visit to Nepal.

We had a a really great time on our trek, excellent views and comfortable accomodation all round. Our guide, Hari, was very knolwedgeable and friendly. As it was our first ten day trek, we were a little cautious of the Winter weather and the high altitude, but with a bit of luck (no snow!) and an attentive guide, we felt very at ease. I decided to take a poter later down the road and Hari also helped organised a reliable and friendly gentleman to join us. The Trekking Team Group also help organise donations to a local Secondary School in need of stationary and school supplies, through a great charity called 'Pack for a Purpose'. It's worth checking out if you have some space in your backpack before leaving Kathmandu, all very organised and an easy way to support the community. Thank you for an enjoyeable experience!

We've been doing the Annapurna panorama trek with Trekking Team Group and we were very happy with our experience. Our guide, Bir, really took his time to tailor the trip to our needs. We had to change the itinerary halfway because of the weather conditions. Also his several anecdotes about the landscapes, fauna and flora, etc. were really interesting and helpful and allowed us to enjoy our trip even more.
Furthermore their ecological way of traveling seems to be unique, we didn't have to buy any (expensive) water bottles because we got to purify them in less than a minute by UV.
Of course, there's always room for improvement. First, our polite and enjoyable porter named Babu, didn't wear the appropriate shoes for the trekking. On his flip-flops he carried our backpack for six days. And yes he did excellent, and yes he often walked faster than us (!), but we didn't feel right about this. When we came across leeches, his feet were bleeding. When I addressed this matter to Bir, he said that 'They didn't knew this and if he had said this to them in advance, they would have given him appropriate shoes.' This is not right, you can not expect from a porter to give that information in advance (btw Bir knows Babu now for 4 years), it's the agencies' responsibility to make sure all their members have appropriate clothing and footwear. Idea for anybody who wants to do a trekking: there are companies who rent clothing and shoes for porters. Sadly enough we knew this too late.
Another issue is the slight male dominance present during the trekking. Some 'important questions' like "Would you like to drink some local alcohol-based drink?" or "What do you think, do we walk further to the next town or..?" were mostly only addressed to my boyfriend, while I was sitting next to him. Not a nice feeling, being a woman.
Overall, our trekking was a nice 6-day trip through jungle, forest, villages and beautiful landscapes with waterfalls en rivers. Our company, Bir and Babu, were also very enjoyable and we had a lot of fun together (playing games in de lodges for instance). Bir is a responsable guide and has so much knowledge about and experience with trekking, the mountains,... His boss from Trekking Team Group called him several times to make sure our team's health and atmosphere were ok. Definitely an agency and guide we recommend.

Additional Information

This is ADVENTURE travel, and many of the trip destinations in this site are remote areas, within under developed countries, where events are less predictable than is usually the case in. The unexpected is the norm in these areas and, despite painstaking planning and organization, our adventure trips can never be taken for granted like regular trips. Many of the places that we visit do not have the same quality of emergency health and safety services that you are used to in the developed world. Internal flights can be canceled, road transport is generally uncomfortable and unreliable, and hotels often do not approach the standards of the West.

IF YOU ARE NOT PREPARED FOR THIS, YOU SHOULD NOT TRAVEL WITH US. This unpredictability also means that the itineraries that we put forward for each of our trips should be seen as statements of intent, rather than as contractual obligations. A variety of factors, including weather, transport difficulties and political instability, might dictate that we change any itinerary. The trip leader will make any changes that are necessary, after consultation with the group. Only rarely will such changes be significant, and we will always do everything within our powers to minimize the effects of the enforced changes. We cannot be held responsible for the results of changes or delays, irrespective of how they are caused.

What makes this trip different ?

Trekking Team Group is the major supporter of Ambe Foundation, an apolitical and not-for-profit organisation. We contribute our support for the development of some community schools in remote villages in Nuwakot district. We have been supporting Gramin Devi School and Khumbeshwori School, both community-based educational institutions, through donation, sponsorship and partnership in various projects.

Donation

Trekking Team Group donates one percentage of its total business profits to the foundation on yearly basis. The donated amount supports the ongoing maintenance of Gramin Devi School and Khumbeshwori School in Nuwakot.

Sponsorship

One of the major activities of Ambe Foundation is the children sponsorship programme. It is conducted in full collaboration with Trekking Team Group.

Partnership (Volunteering Program)

The Ambe Volunteer Programme, organised by Ambe Foundation and Trekking Team Group, aims to mobilise teams of experts and interested individuals effectively for education, health and community development in Nuwakot district.
