Langtang Gosainkund Trek: Discover the Scenic Beauty of Nepal’s Verdant Valleys and Sacred High-altitude Lakes
The Langtang Gosainkund trek is a combination of two short trek, Langtang-a beautiful valley on the lap of Himalaya and Gosainkund- a sacred lake located in the high plateau of Langtang National Park. The national park was established in 1976 as Nepal’s first Himalayan national park.
The Gosainkunda Lake is located at an elevation of 4,300 m (14,100 ft) and one of the religious site for all hindus. Hindu mythology attributes Gosaikunda as the abode of the Hindu deities Shiva and Gauri & Its waters are considered holy. Thousands of pilgrims from Nepal and India visit the Gosainkund Lake during Dashahara and Janai Purnima. Gosaikunda is believed to have been created by Lord Shiva when he thrust his Trishul (holy Trident) into a mountain to extract water so that he could cool his stinging throat after he had swallowed poison.
The route goes through the most affected village of Langtang by the earthquake of 2015 and anyone participating on this trek will support the needed community. The village is rebuilt and has started welcoming tourist from their heart.
Upon arrival, you will spend 2 nights in Kathmandu, exploring UNESCO heritage sites before heading to Syaphrubensi by 4WD. The trekkers pass through Sherpa villages to reach Langtang valley going through amazing views of rushing rivers, beautiful cedar forests and flowers, high alpine meadows, yak pastures, jaw dropping views of soaring Himalayan peaks including the mighty Shishapangma, Manaslu Massif, Ganesh Himal, Langtang and Jugal Himal. The village of Kyanjin Gompa is the last village in the Langtang national park where we spend 2 nights to explore around and summit the Tsergo Ri peak (4984m), surrounded by snow peaks on all sides. After a brief backtracking till Pairo, we start ascending through Syabru and Sing Gompa to the high plateau, where the sacred lake of Gosainkund is located. Crossing the Laurebena Pass (4,610 m) is another highlight of our Langtang Gosainkund trek and proceed south, leaving the Langtang area behind as we trek through the scenic Helambu Valley to Sundarijal before driving back to Kathmandu.
The two weeks Lantgtang Gosainkund trek is an alternative trekking package of Everest Base Camp trek and Annapurna Circuit trek.

Is this trip Right for me?
- We have to trek from 2,000m to 4,600m, walking 5-8 hours a day in different weather conditions. If you’re okay with this, then this is the right trip for you.
- Accommodations and food are more basic than on well-known routes like Everest Base Camp or Annapurna Base Camp. In some places, you’ll use simple bucket showers and shared squat-style toilets. If you’re fine with this, then this is the right trip for you.
- The Langtang and Gosainkund trek is much quieter than popular trails like Everest Base Camp. It offers a more authentic experience with amazing Sherpa culture. If you’re looking for such a place, then this is the right trip for you.
- During the 2015 earthquake, Langtang Valley was heavily damaged by landslides, and many villagers lost their homes and loved ones. With support from national and international supporters, people have rebuilt their houses and hotels. If you want to support the community by trekking in this area, then this is the right trek for you.
- If you want to trek and explore pilgrimage sites, as well as take on the challenge of climbing Tserko Ri, nearly 5,000m high, then this is the trip for you.

Trip Reviews
After ABC Trek last year with TTG, we did this year Langtang-Gosaikunda-Helambu Trek. Everything was once again very good organized from the beginning till the end by Trekking Team Group. Excellent guide and porters made everything that we feel good. Stunning landscapes. We will come back for another Trek with TrekkingTeamGroup.
TTG, namely the guider Arjun, managed everything with international quality and best knowledge of the local conditions. On trek I want to enjoy the nature, culture and people. I prefer to avoid arranging for accommodation, routes, meal etc. This has been managed by TTG and the guider. TTG helps just to enjoy what you plan before trek. Reliable and professional not only trek organizers, but also very friendly and helpful. Should you experience wonderful trek and safety return at home, turn to TTG.
We were planning long time a head to trek to Langtang region. This was best trip we ever been to. The snow fall on the way, frozen lakes and beautiful view of mountains at sunrise was best of all. All our guides and porters were experience and friendly who could tell you lot about the country. We had lots of fun and learned many things each others.Thank you guys for a great trip!

Additional Information
This is ADVENTURE travel, and many of the destinations on this site are in remote, underdeveloped areas where unpredictability is the norm. Despite careful planning and organization, our adventure trips can’t be taken for granted like regular trips. Many of the places we visit lack the emergency health and safety services you’re used to in the developed world. Internal flights can be canceled, road transport is often uncomfortable and unreliable, and hotel standards may not match those of the West.
If you’re not prepared for this, you shouldn’t travel with us. The unpredictability also means that our itineraries are statements of intent, not contractual obligations. Factors such as weather, transport difficulties, and political instability might require us to change any itinerary. The trip leader will make any necessary changes after consulting with the group. Such changes are rarely significant, and we always do our best to minimize their impact. However, we cannot be held responsible for changes or delays, regardless of their cause.
What makes this trip different ?
Trekking Team Groups is one of the main supporters of Ambe Foundation, a non-political and non-profit social organization. We contribute our support to the remote village of Nuwakot and different schools like Gramin Devi, Khumbeshwori through donation, sponsorship and partnership in various projects. For details click here what we do and why we do?
Donation
Trekking Team Group donates a percentage of business profits to the foundation on a yearly basis, which supports the ongoing maintenance cost required for Gramin Devi and Khumbeshwori school, a community-based school in Nuwakot.
Sponsorship
One of the major activities of Ambe foundation is the children sponsorship program, which is conducted with full collaboration with Trekking Team Group.
Partnership (Volunteering Program)
The Ambe Volunteer Program, organised by Ambe Foundation and Trekking Team Group, aims to mobilize teams of experts and interested individuals as an effective and economic measure in providing the human capital for education, health and community development in Nuwakot District.
