Trip Overview
“Langtang Trek offers a captivating journey through stunning landscapes and rich cultural experiences in the heart of the Langtang Valley.”
The langtang trek is one of the favorite, easier and shorter trek for many trekkers in Nepal, offering expansive views, interesting Tamang and Sherpa culture, relatively gentle pace and easy accessibility from Kathmandu. The area is renowned for its beautiful cedar forests and flowers and jaw dropping views of soaring Himalayan peaks including the mighty Shishapangma which is one of the 8000 metre peaks, Manaslu Massif, Ganesh, Langtang and Jugal Himal.
The Langtang Valley trek can be done as a single trek, or can be combine with the Tamang Heritage trek, or Gosainkund Trek or as an acclimatization trek before attempting one of the longer and more challenging routes like Everest Base Camp or Annapurna Circuit. The route goes through the most affected village by the earthquake of 2015. The earthquake and subsequent landslide had an enormous effect on the region, but aid and reconstruction have recently reopened this valley to trekking again. Not only is it still a beautiful trek, your visit will also provide vital support for local livelihoods. Trekking in this beautiful valley will support the people of Langtang by providing much-needed income to rebuild in a sustainable and secure way. This is not charity; this is the business end of sustainable travel, where your travel choices can respectfully support local people while preserving their dignity, their culture and their way of life. Be wowed by nature, be humbled by the human spirit and be a part of local solutions when you choose to trek in Langtang.
You spend 2 nights in Kathmandu, an ancient city, and explore UNESCO heritage sites before heading to Syaphrubensi. The trekkers pass through Sherpa villages to reach Langtang valley. One can trek to Langtang Glacier, visit a local cheese factory and hear stories of Yeti from the locals. Red panda, the shy and charismatic endangered mammal species can be spotted during the trekking in Langtang National Park. The village of Kyanjin Gompa is the last village where we spend 2 nights to summit the Tsergo Ri peak (4984m), surrounded by snow peaks on all sides. A vast wall of peaks lies between you and Tibet and to the south Ganchenpo (Fluted Mountain) climbs gracefully into the heavens. The memory will last forever of this beautiful Langtang Trek. Is this trip Right for me?
- This trek known as a short and easy trek of Nepal, however the highest point we stay is nearly 4000m but a day hiking to a Peak goes about 5000m, so if this altitude is not a problem for you then this is the right trek for you. We have made an itinerary such a way that, it gives you enough time to acclimatize before getting to that high.
- Although the trek known as easy trek of Nepal, we can’t underestimate how important it is to have a good level of fitness. You’ll be trekking for up to 5-7 hours a day, at altitudes between 2000-4000 metres. If you can cope this then this is the right trek for you.
- Accommodation and foods are more basic then established route like Everest base camp or Annapurna Base camp. Some places you’ll use a simple bucket shower and toilets are in local squat style and shared. If you do not have problem with this then this is the right trek for you.
- Langtang trek is much quieter than popular trail like Everest Base Camp. It is more authentic with amazing Sherpa culture. If you are looking for such a place then it is the right trek for you.
- During the earthquake of 2015, the langtang valley was totally swept away from landslide and many villagers have lost their property and loved ones. After the support from national and international, people have rebuild their house and hotels. If you want to support the community then this is the right trek for you.

Trip Reviews
I had a great time on the Langtang trek. My guide and porter were friendly and provided everything. The views are extraordinary. I will like to return in Nepal and go on another trek with them. I took us 3 days to reach Kyanjin Gompa, while going up trough a beautiful jungle, full on monkeys and beautiful birds. The guys from Trekking Team Group were friendly and careful, always trying to take care of me. We discussed about the local culture, plants, animals and beautiful summits. I would for sure recommend Trekking Team Group, and also Bijay and Ravi , my companions on the trek
Booked a 8-day trip to Langtang; from the minute you walk into the office, the agency raises sustainability issues and is concerned with serving benefits to the local community. They do not support plastics therefore they provide filtered water to all members of the team. What we liked the most about our organized tour is the fact that our guide and porter were always smiling and caring; also whenever we wanted to change the plan or our accommodation, our guide offered and arranged different options, so it was actually not a fixed but a tailor-made tour depending on our needs and wishes. We would like to thank Azay, Bin and Saroj for their friendliness and help in order for us to enjoy an unforgettable trip to the Himalayas!
Here, Organised Group is better than sorting oneself as I would usually do, and well worth the extra money! Seven of us ‘middle aged Kiwi ladies ‘were extremely well looked after by Hari from Trekking Team Group. Extremely competent, educated, experienced, considerate and astute is Hari. He was also friendly, attentive and very helpful. Very pleasing to watch how he worked with and related to his staff of trainee guides and porters- a great bunch. The guides were encouraged to relate with us, upgrade both their and our education and enjoy the trek. The porters were not so overloaded as some but definitely strong and fit and happy.
Our trip was a fortnight with 10 actual trekking days in the Langtang, 7hrs comfortable coach ride north of Katmandu. We were always well accommodated and catered to. The schedule and imposed slow pace will have contributed to why none of us got altitude sickness upto the 4360m. Mountain were absolutely wonderful. Very exciting and well worth waking to see at 5 o’clock in the morning even though we never started walking till 8. In the lower reaches one wanders through various woodlands/ forests. The rhododendrons were out in April/May. All is all great trip and great company!
Traveling in the langtang national park is an unusual experience because of the beautiful landscape for starters. After 6-7 hrs private Jeep rides to starting point. Be prepared to get yourself a great morning view of the surrounding mountains, it’s just beautiful experience.During this trek, our guide and porter took care of us and provided every things we needed. Food was great but be prepared no to eat any meat during this trek as there`s no meat supplies in the mountains.
All in all its a great trek to the frozen lakes for langtang, the view is absolutely spectacular, and the air is clean and fresh… something an urban guy like me appreciate very much.

Additional Information
This is ADVENTURE travel, and many of the destinations on this site are in remote, underdeveloped areas where unpredictability is the norm. Despite careful planning and organization, our adventure trips can’t be taken for granted like regular trips. Many of the places we visit lack the emergency health and safety services you’re used to in the developed world. Internal flights can be canceled, road transport is often uncomfortable and unreliable, and hotel standards may not match those of the West.
If you’re not prepared for this, you shouldn’t travel with us. The unpredictability also means that our itineraries are statements of intent, not contractual obligations. Factors such as weather, transport difficulties, and political instability might require us to change any itinerary. The trip leader will make any necessary changes after consulting with the group. Such changes are rarely significant, and we always do our best to minimize their impact. However, we cannot be held responsible for changes or delays, regardless of their cause.

Sponsorship
One of the major activities of Ambe foundation is the children sponsorship program, which is conducted with full collaboration with Trekking Team Group.
Partnership (Volunteering Program)
