Trip Overview
Shivapuri hiking start after an early breakfast and head to Budhanilkhanta Temple, where you’ll be accompanied by a knowledgeable guide. Pay homage at this sacred temple of the sleeping god Vishnu, immersing yourself in the rich local culture by lighting a butter lamp. From there, drive to the entrance gate of Shivapuri National Park.
Embark on a trek through the captivating woodlands of Shivapuri National Park, gradually ascending while enjoying scenic views and fresh air. Along the way, encounter a variety of birds, monkeys, and other wildlife such as wild boars and deer.
Continue your hike to Nagi Gompa, a serene Buddhist monastery perched atop a hill, offering panoramic views of the Kathmandu Valley. Interact with resident nuns, capture unforgettable photographs, and then ascend further to Bagdwar, the origin of the Bagmati River in Kathmandu. Push onwards with a sharp ascent to the summit of Shivapuri Hill (2732m), where you’ll enjoy a delightful lunch surrounded by breathtaking scenery.
Afterwards, descend through lush forests, passing by waterfalls, until you reach the designated bus stand where our transport will be waiting to take you back. Please note, the trek’s duration is approximately 8-9 hours, and individuals with knee problems should avoid attempting this challenging hike.
For bird enthusiasts, Shivapuri hiking is a paradise. Spot a diverse array of avian species including Laughing Thrush, Crested Serpent Eagle, Little Pied Flycatchers, Babblers, Pheasants, Magpies, Sunbirds, Ruby, and more within this pristine natural habitat. Immerse yourself in the harmonious melodies of nature and uncover the rich birdlife that thrives in Shivapuri. You can also try Kakani to Jhor hiking.

Trip Reviews
We did a one day hike in the kathmandu valley as we didnt have time for a long trek in the himalayas. The service was great in particular our guide Birman who was fantastic. As it turned out the weather prevented us from having a good view at the top (Shivapuri peak) but of course that is not the trekking teams fault and they provided an excellent service throughout at a keen price.

The hike up Shivapuri was long and hard, with thousands of steps all the way up. The views at the top were impressive, at least on that day, with a panorama from the distant Annapurna Range and the impressive Manaslu to the white peaks of Ganesh Himal and the Langtang range. From one point some way up there was also a good view of the Everest region, with Makalu but not Everst visible. I found that the summit views were disappointing, but there is a better viewpoint a few hundred meters before. They must build a viewing tower! Overall, I am happy to have done the day hike.
We booked Hike the Shivapuri to see 8000’ers with Trekking Team Group before our Everest Base Camp trek thinking that it will be great day to acclimatize. The day started with drive to Hindu temple with large reclining goddess in a pond, after exploring this beautiful temple ascended through mostly unspoilt rainforest to Buddhist monastery at the peak, with monks praying and chanting few of us decided to stay there to rest and those who are fit went to the Shivapuri peak.
Our guide was definitely an expert knowing the path very well and lots of information to share about Nepal. He was a person with sense of humor and we had lots of fun with him. If you have just the day off and want to be in a nature, this is the trek for you! Thank shree recommending us this great hike!
PS: We did this trek in May, it was very sunny, remember to get some sunscreen.

Additional Information
This is ADVENTURE travel, and many of the destinations on this site are in remote, underdeveloped areas where unpredictability is the norm. Despite careful planning and organization, our adventure trips can’t be taken for granted like regular trips. Many of the places we visit lack the emergency health and safety services you’re used to in the developed world. Internal flights can be canceled, road transport is often uncomfortable and unreliable, and hotel standards may not match those of the West.
If you’re not prepared for this, you shouldn’t travel with us. The unpredictability also means that our itineraries are statements of intent, not contractual obligations. Factors such as weather, transport difficulties, and political instability might require us to change any itinerary. The trip leader will make any necessary changes after consulting with the group. Such changes are rarely significant, and we always do our best to minimize their impact. However, we cannot be held responsible for changes or delays, regardless of their cause.

Sponsorship
One of the major activities of Ambe foundation is the children sponsorship program, which is conducted with full collaboration with Trekking Team Group.
Partnership (Volunteering Program)
