Overland To Nepal

There are many ways to enter Nepal by overland. The following are the borders open for tourists to enter and you can also get visa upon arrival.

Kakarvitta, Jhapa (Eastern Nepal):

This is the border connecting Nepal with Sikkim and Darjeeling. It is also used to connect with Bhutan Phonsoling  Border.

Birganj, Parsa (Central Nepal): 

Popular border to come from Calcutta and Varanasi of India. Easily connected with regular bus service.

Kodari, Sindhupalchowk (Northern Border):

One and only Border from China/Tibet to Nepal with regular bus /jeep service. All trekkers/ travelers use this border to go or come from Tibet/ Lhasa.

Belhiya, Bhairahawa (Rupandehi, Western Nepal)

Most popular border to come from India to Nepal as Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha is just few miles away from here. It is also best connected with Indian train station Gorakpur.

Jamuna, Nepalgunj (Banke, Mid Western Nepal)

This border is good to use for people who are going to western part of Nepal from India.

Mohana, Dhangadhi (Kailali, Far Western Nepal)

This Border is often used for the bus coming from Delhi to Kathmandu.

Gaddachauki, Mahendranagar (Kanchanpur, Far Western Nepal)

Also best to combine with Indian Capital to Nepal or western Part of Nepal.
