Canyoning in Nepal, also known as canyoneering in some regions, is an exhilarating outdoor adventure activity that involves navigating through canyons using a variety of techniques such as walking, scrambling, climbing, jumping, abseiling (rappelling), and swimming. Nepal, renowned for its rugged and diverse landscapes, offers some of the world’s best canyoning experiences. There are about two dozen canyons opened for Canyoning activity where you can experience the thrill of this adventure on the base of world’s highest mountains.

Some Canyoning trip can be combine with Rafting or kayaking trip as they are just next to big river. We’re pioneers of canyoning in Nepal. Trips range from easy day trip to few days.

What to Expect

Canyoning in Nepal involves a combination of techniques to navigate through the canyons. Participants can expect to:

  • Abseil Down Waterfalls: Rappelling down waterfalls is one of the highlights of canyoning. It requires skill and courage as you descend through the cascading water.

  • Swim Through Narrow Gorges: Swimming through the narrow, water-filled gorges is both a challenging and refreshing experience.

Safety and Equipment

Safety is paramount in canyoning, and Nepal’s canyoning operators ensure participants are well-equipped and guided by experienced professionals. Essential gear includes:

  • Wetsuits: To keep warm in the cold water.
  • Harnesses and Ropes: For abseiling and securing yourself.
  • Helmets: To protect against falling rocks and slips.
  • Canyoning Shoes: Designed for good grip on wet surfaces.

Additional Information

This is ADVENTURE travel, and many of the destinations on this site are in remote, underdeveloped areas where unpredictability is the norm. Despite careful planning and organization, our adventure trips can’t be taken for granted like regular trips. Many of the places we visit lack the emergency health and safety services you’re used to in the developed world. Internal flights can be canceled, road transport is often uncomfortable and unreliable, and hotel standards may not match those of the West.

If you’re not prepared for this, you shouldn’t travel with us. The unpredictability also means that our itineraries are statements of intent, not contractual obligations. Factors such as weather, transport difficulties, and political instability might require us to change any itinerary. The trip leader will make any necessary changes after consulting with the group. Such changes are rarely significant, and we always do our best to minimize their impact. However, we cannot be held responsible for changes or delays, regardless of their cause.

Partnership (Volunteering Program)
