Expeditions to all of Nepal’s eight-thousanders are possible, though permit rates are reaching unprecedented heights and more environmental rules are being enforced on climbing parties. Commercial expeditions organized from abroad are now common, with experienced guides and strong Nepalese support teams bringing climbers to the major summits.
However, it’s important to understand that good fitness and strong will alone are not enough for these climbs. Less than 30% of all aspiring summiters reach their goals, even those with a solid Alpine background. Expeditions to any of Nepal’s highest mountains, including those ranging between 7,000 to 8,000 meters, require long-term planning and thorough organization.
