Trip Overview
Manaslu Trekking, or the Manaslu Circuit Trek, is a fantastic base camp trek that goes up and back along a different path. It features beautiful scenery, rich culture, and stunning mountain views, taking you to the base of the world’s eighth-highest peak.
The Manaslu trek has become increasingly popular as it attracts fewer trekkers than other established routes, such as Everest Base Camp or Annapurna Base Camp.
Manaslu (8163m) is the world’s eighth-highest mountain and sits next to the Annapurna range. It is in a region closed to outsiders until the early 90s, and tourism is still restricted. So, we have to get a special permit to enter here. Manaslu is a beautiful trek with breathtaking views of Mount Manaslu (8163m) and the Ganesh Himal massifs.
Along the trail, you encounter attractive Buddhist villages mixed with Hindu and Tibetan religions and cultures. The trail follows the spectacular Budhigandaki River from Arughat till its source just below the Larke Pass (5125 m) and ends by crossing the High Pass of Larke La and through Marchyangdi Valley.
After spending two nights in Kathmandu exploring the heritage sites, you will drive about 7 hours on a 4WD and start the Manaslu trekking from a low altitude, around 700m. As the trail ascends, one can enjoy different landscapes, ranging from green countryside, picturesque villages, beautiful waterfalls, lush forests, and rushing rivers to spectacular high-altitude landscapes while walking alongside glaciers.
The highlight of the Manaslu trekking is visiting Manaslu Base Camp and crossing the Larke Pass (5125 m). It can be challenging when there is snow. However, the stunning landscape with the mighty Himalayas towering straight above you and the spectacular glaciers along the way make it an unforgettable experience.
Our descent passes through beautiful alpine meadows at Bimtang before joining the main Annapurna Circuit trekking route for Besisahar. We have carefully devised our itinerary so as not to go too high or too fast to avoid altitude sickness, ensuring your safety and comfort.
We spent one acclimatization day at Samagoun, a beautiful village, exploring Manaslu base camp and Birendra Lake before going to the high pass. After the trek, we will spend two nights in Kathmandu for safety reasons, explore more places, and do our last shopping as everyone wants to buy something for their loved ones on the Annapurna Circuit trekking route for Besisahar.
We will have one rest day at Bhimthang after the long day to rest and explore, as Bhimthang is a beautiful place to rest. We have carefully devised our itinerary so as not to go too high or too fast to avoid altitude sickness; therefore, we have kept one acclimatization day at Samagoun, which is a beautiful village to explore Manaslu base camp, and Birendra Lake before going to the high pass.
After the trek, we will spend two nights in Kathmandu for safety reasons, to explore more places, and to make our last shopping trip, as everyone wants to buy something for their loved ones.

Trip Reviews
We did the Manaslu circuit with Tsum valley an booked directly on site in the office in Kathmandu. Very good advice from Shree. The trekking is very well organized, Hari and DK were great companions – we felt very comfortable the whole time. Due to snowfall we could not cross the pass although we tried at first. Came up to almost 4900 meters above sea level. The whole time we felt safe and well looked after. We’ll be back for sure! We can warmly recommend Trekking Team Group.
In October 2022 my wife and me spent a 3 week holiday in Nepal using the services of Treking Team Group ( TTG ) in Kathmandu and its speciality – Manaslu circuit. Before I will briefly describe what happened I have to write here down that this company is fully professional, with long history of serving their clients from all over the world. After the arrival at the Tribhuvan international airport in Kathmandu we easily found the representative of TTG ( the nephew of the director ) who was already waiting for us in the arrival hall. He was waiting inside the building while the other companies have been waiting outside it near the parking place. I forgot to ask why but after the long all night flight it was pleasant to find our partner so quickly. After the short drive ( with a comfortable and clean car ) we were warmly welcome by Srihari – the director of TTG at the simple but comfortable Mandala Boutique Hotel near the Thamel – touristic center of Kathmandu. On the next day together Srihari and his nephew showed us the “best of” Kathmandu with interesting explanation of the history and presence of the Nepal capital. In the afternoon at the hotel they introduced us our trekking guide Hari and detailly explained our trip. They also were very helpful to buy some small missing things that we were supposed to have in the mountains. The situation up there was not ideal, better said it was complicated because of unexpected snowfall in the previous days and also because of massive landslides on the trek.
We agreed on slightly modified program because of all this unexpected issues and next morning we left the hotel for Soti Khola. Next day we started our 15 days trek of the Manaslu circuit with in four : my wife and me, our guide Hari and Omis – the porter. During these 15 days we not only passed the highest point of the trek : Larke Pass – 5109 meters of altitude but also did several whole day acclimatization but interesting side trips to the places like Punggen Gumba monastery, Manaslu Base Camp, Tibetian border, Ponkar Lake and many half day walks aside. During these 15 days we hade to declare several times that we have the best guide on the trek. Even in the complicated situations ( when some groups gave up and return ), like the massive landslide between Jagat and Deng, he always knew what to do and always found out simple and save solution. Real professional! Thanks to him we were able to fully enjoy the trekking days in the altitudes over 4500 meters and crossing the Larke Pass was nearly “icing on the cake”. During the days we did not have any altitude disease, diarrhea problems, lack of equipment, no uncertain points. And after more than 2 weeks in the mountains we were warmly welcome by Srihari in Kathmandu at the same hotel with a feeling that we returned home. Again TTG – these are guys that know what they are doing! Highly recommended.
This is our third trip with them. We would like to thank Trekking Team Group for professional approach, exclusive behavior to us and friendly atmosphere during the whole Manaslu trek. We will recommend your team to all our friends in the future.
We trekked the Manaslu Circuit this year and it was awesome – trekking team group were organized, fun , considerate and looked after everything for us. Special mention for our guide Arjun and porter Tashi – they are the BEST!. Looked after us every step of the way – were fun, friendly and made the trip a true pleasure.A beautiful circuit – get out and do it!
For a trip my son and I had long planned to make together, it was important that everything be well planned out, that we have an experienced and capable guide and porter, and that the ‘customized’ elements of the trip be considered and integrated into our trek. Trekking Team Group did not disappoint! From the first contact we made with Shreehari Thapaliya, the owner, I knew we had chosen the right outfit. Shreehari was very attentive to all of our needs and put together a trek that met all of our expectations.
We met our guide, Birman Tamang, the day we arrived in Kathmandu and he was available to us from that day until we left Nepal. Birman knew the area not only as a Nepali but also from many previous treks he had gone on – he was a familiar face to all the locals along the way. Our porter, Om Bahadur, was equally at home at all the guesthouses. Both Birman and Om worked tirelessly to make sure our experience was a memorable one. They provided us with interesting history and anecdotes about each village and guesthouse, they shared an amazingly complete knowledge of flora, fauna and cultural aspects of our trip, they looked out for our comfort and safety. We formed a friendship with all the staff at Trekking Team Group, and we look forward to returning in the future to explore other parts of Nepal with the team. I could not recommend them more highly, they truly offer a unique and excellent experience.
I am a tour leader working with a European company and have been traveling to Nepal for the past 15 years. Throughout this time, we have consistently partnered with Trekking Team Group, and our experiences have been exceptional.
We had a fantastic Manaslu trek with Trekking Team Group, and everything was seamless. The Thamel office is always prompt with accurate information, and our guide and porters were incredibly supportive in the mountains. Thanks to their excellent work, we faced no issues and could fully appreciate the beauty of the Himalayas.
When I return to Nepal, I will definitely arrange my tour with Trekking Team Group again.

Additional Information
This is ADVENTURE travel, and many of the destinations on this site are in remote, underdeveloped areas where unpredictability is the norm. Despite careful planning and organization, our adventure trips can’t be taken for granted like regular trips. Many of the places we visit lack the emergency health and safety services you’re used to in the developed world. Internal flights can be canceled, road transport is often uncomfortable and unreliable, and hotel standards may not match those of the West.
If you’re not prepared for this, you shouldn’t travel with us. The unpredictability also means that our itineraries are statements of intent, not contractual obligations. Factors such as weather, transport difficulties, and political instability might require us to change any itinerary. The trip leader will make any necessary changes after consulting with the group. Such changes are rarely significant, and we always do our best to minimize their impact. However, we cannot be held responsible for changes or delays, regardless of their cause.
