Trip Description

Manaslu Trekking is an amazing base camp trek going up and back along a different path with beautiful scenery, rich culture and stunning mountains view. The Manaslu Circuit trek has been increasingly popular as it witnesses less number of trekkers compared with other established trekking routes like Everest Base camp or Annapurna Base camp.

Manaslu (8163m) is the eighth highest mountain of the world and sits next to the Annapurna range. It is in a region which was closed to outsiders until the early 90's and tourism is still restricted. So we have to make special permit to enter here. Manaslu is an amazingly beautiful trek with breathtaking views of Mount Manaslu (8163m) and the Ganesh Himal massifs. Along the trail, you encounter interesting Buddhist villages mixed with Hindu and Tibetan religion and culture. The trail follows the spectacular Budhigandaki River all the way from Arughat till its source just below the Larke Pass (5125 m) and end crossing the High pass of Larke La and through Marchyangdi valley.

After spending two nights in Kathmandu exploring the heritage sites, you will drive about 7 hrs on a 4WD and start the Manaslu trekking from low altitude, at around 700m. As the trail ascends one can enjoy different landscapes ranging from the green countryside, picturesque village, beautiful waterfalls, lush forests, rushing river to spectacular high altitude landscapes while walking alongside glaciers. The Visiting of Manaslu Base Camp & crossing of the Larke Pass (5125 m) is the highlight of the Manaslu trekking. It can be tough when there is snow. However, the stunning landscape with the mighty Himalayas towering straight above you and the spectacular glaciers along the way make it an unforgettable experience.

The descent passes through beautiful alpine meadows at Bimtang before joining the main Annapurna Circuit trekking route for Besisahar. We will have one rest day at Bhimthang after the long day to rest and explore as Bhimthang is amazingly beautiful place for rest. We have carefully devised our itinerary not to go too high to fast in order to avoid altitude sickness therefore have kept one acclimatize day at Samagoun which is beautiful village to explore Manaslu base camp and Birendra lake before going the high pass. After the trek we will spend two nights in Kathmandu for safety reason and to explore more places and do our last shopping as everyone wanted to buy something for their love one.

Let you find the reason why manaslu trekking would be the great trekking destination for anyone from 10 Reason to do Manaslu Circuit Trek. Also, you can combine Manaslu trek with Tsum valley and Annapurna Circuit, please let us know about your planning so that we can customize the itinerary.

Is Manaslu Trek a right trip for you?

  • If you are looking for a trek that is totally a different route to go and comeback then it is a right trek for you as Manalsu trek is an absolutely circuit trail.
  • If you are looking for a trail where there are less trekkers and still offers great view of mountains, picturesque village, ancient Monasteries, High passes, explore Manaslu base camp then then this is the right trek for you.
  • Trekking in Nepal is not like walking in the park. It goes with many ups and down reaching altitudes of over 5000 meters. We will also spend few nights above 4000m. You have to be good health condition to participate. If you are happy to challenge yourself then this is the right trek for you.
  • The weather can be unpredictable in the Mountains, we trek up to 5-8 hours per day from 3000-5400m of altitudes, so please prepared for this mentally and physically. If you are ready to cope with it, Manaslu trekking is the right trek for you.
  • The Teahouses where we spend nights are very simple with only basic facilities. You have to use sharing bathroom and toilet especially in high altitude. If you are not looking for comfort then this is the right trek for you.
  • The Manaslu trek can be combined with Tsum valley and Annapurna Circuit. If you have more time and want to explore more areas, then this is the right trek for you. Please ask us to customized new itinerary.

We did the manaslu circuit with tsum valley an booked directly on site in the office in kathmandu. Very good advice from Shree. The trekking is very well organized, Hari and DK were great companions - we felt very comfortable the whole time. Due to snowfall we could not cross the pass although we tried at first. Came up to almost 4900 meters above sea level. Tje whole time we felt safe and well looked after. We'll be back for sure! We can warmly recommend Trekking Team Group.

Manaslu Circuit trek in October 2022

In October 2022 my wife and me spent a 3 week holiday in Nepal using the services of Treking Team Group ( TTG ) in Kathmandu and its speciality - Manaslu circuit. Before I will briefly describe what happened I have to write here down that this copmany is fully professional, with long history of serving their clients all over the world. After the arrival at the Tribhuvan international airport in Kathmandu we easily found the representative of TTG ( the nephew of the director ) who was already waitig for us in the arrival hall. He was waiting inside the building while the other companies have been waiting outside it near the parking place. I forgot to ask why but after the long all night flight it was pleasant to find our parnter so quickly. After the short drive ( with a comfortable and clean car ) we were warmly welcome by Srihari - the director of TTG at the simple but comfortable Mandala Boutique Hotel near the Thamel - turistic centre of Kathmandu. On the next day together Srihari and his nephew showed us the "best of" Kathmandu with interesting explanation of the history and presence of the Nepal capital. In the aftrenoon at the hotel they introduced us our trekking guide Hari and detailly explained our trip. They also were very helpful to buy some small missing things that we were supposed to have in the mountains. The situation up there was not ideal, better said it was complicated because of unexpeted snowfall in the previous days and also because of massive landslides on the trek. We agreed on slightly modified program because of all this unexepcted issues and next morning we left the hotel for Soti Khola. Next day we started our 15 days trek of the Manaslu circuit with in four : my wife and me, our guide Hari and Omis - the porter. During these 15 days we not only passed the highest point of the trek : Larke Pass - 5109 meters of altitude but also did several whole day aclimatisation but interesting sidetrips to the places like Punggen Gumba monastery, Manaslu Base Camp, Tibetian border, Ponkar Lake and many half day walks aside. During these 15 days we hade to declare several times that we have the best guide on the trek. Even in the complicated situations ( when some groups gave up and return ), like the massive landslide between Jagat and Deng, he always knew what to do and always found out simple and save solution. Real proffesional! Thanks to him we were able to fully enjoy the trekking days in the altitudes over 4500 meters and crossing the Larke Pass was nearly "icing on the cake". During the days we did not have any altitude disease, diarrhea problems, lack of equipment, no uncertain points. And after more than 2 weeks in the mountains we were warmly welcome by Srihari in Kathmandu at the same hotel with a feeling that we returned home. Again TTG - these are guys that know what they are doing! Highly recommended.

I have trekked to Manaslu with my friends and had a great trip. Our guide and porters were among the best and were very friendly and a persons with sense of humor. They were ready to help anytime. Our guide were making sure your food is well prepared and comes on time so he was going to kitchen and checking everything as he was so familiar with the villagers on the trails head.
The company had a great philosophy of responsible tourism. They were discouraging trekkers to use bottle water, instead provide them TAP bottle and purify water to drink through StriPen during the entire trek. They are encouraging to eat the local food so that locals get more benefit.
The owner shree came to pick up us and had dinner with us and we had great time with him discussing about the Philosophy of his company. We were very lucky to be connected with such a great company who love their country and people so much. Thank you Shree, Arjun , Sam and Maila for such a life time experience.
We will come back soon for Mustang trip!
Namastee!

Additional Information

This is ADVENTURE travel, and many of the trip destinations in this site are remote areas, within under developed countries, where events are less predictable than is usually the case in. The unexpected is the norm in these areas and, despite painstaking planning and organization, our adventure trips can never be taken for granted like regular trips. Many of the places that we visit do not have the same quality of emergency health and safety services that you are used to in the developed world. Internal flights can be canceled, road transport is generally uncomfortable and unreliable, and hotels often do not approach the standards of the West.

IF YOU ARE NOT PREPARED FOR THIS, YOU SHOULD NOT TRAVEL WITH US.This unpredictability also means that the itineraries that we put forward for each of our trips should be seen as statements of intent, rather than as contractual obligations. A variety of factors, including weather, transport difficulties and political instability, might dictate that we change any itinerary. The trip leader will make any changes that are necessary, after consultation with the group. Only rarely will such changes be significant, and we will always do everything within our powers to minimize the effects of the enforced changes. We cannot be held responsible for the results of changes or delays, irrespective of how they are caused.
