Trip Overview
We are a group of friends from the Alpine Club, and we decided to trek to Makalu Base Camp. This was our third adventure with Trekking Team Group. Previously, we had completed the Everest Base Camp trek in 2019 before the pandemic, and the Manaslu Circuit in 2016 after the earthquake. Looking for a more challenging and remote trek, we followed Shree’s suggestion and chose Makalu. After some research, we confirmed our decision and booked our flights once the itinerary was finalized.
The trek was fantastic, with far fewer people compared to Everest and Manaslu. The accommodations were basic but clean, and the food was good. We mostly enjoyed local food, aligning with the company’s philosophy of supporting the community. Our guide and porter, both from the region, provided valuable insights and had excellent relationships with the locals. Our guide, Nima, knew nearly everyone along the way.
Although crossing the pass was challenging due to snow, the trek exceeded our expectations overall, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. A special thanks to Shree and Nima for an outstanding trip. We appreciated the company’s commitment to reducing plastic waste and the use of purified water with a UV SteriPen. We can’t wait for our next adventure, possibly in Bhutan. Namaste!
