This 13-day Family Footprints in Nepal journey is thoughtfully designed to take your family beyond the guidebooks and into the soul of Nepal’s breathtaking landscapes and vibrant cultural heritage. Welcome to Nepal – Arrival in Kathmandu

Your journey of Family Footprints in Nepal begins with a warm welcome at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. As you drive to your hotel, the bustling charm of Nepal’s capital greets you with colorful prayer flags, the sound of temple bells, and smiles from every corner. The rest of the day is yours to relax, acclimatize, and explore the nearby Thamel area, known for its lively atmosphere, family-friendly cafés, and music shops. It’s the perfect gentle beginning to an unforgettable family journey.

In the evening, we will enjoy a Nepali dinner accompanied by a local Musician who performed on the Sarangi and Madal—iconic instruments of Nepalese heritage. Kathmandu’s Wonders and Traditional Music Class

Wake up in the heart of ancient Nepal. Today your family explores the spiritual and cultural gems of Kathmandu. First, you’ll visit Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple), where children delight in watching monkeys swing through trees while adults admire panoramic city views. Later, step into the artistry of Patan Durbar Square, where intricately carved temples and royal courtyards capture the timeless soul of Nepal. In the afternoon break for lunch in a local restaurant to support this family business.

A highlight of your Family Footprints in Nepal experience awaits in the afternoon: a 30-minute traditional Nepali music class. Children — and curious parents too — will be introduced to traditional Nepali instruments like the Madal and Sarangi, guided by a warm and knowledgeable local musician. With every beat and note, your child will not only discover rhythm but also connect with a vibrant piece of Nepal’s cultural heritage. To make the experience even more meaningful, we’ll invite local children to join the session, creating lasting memories and a shared joy for everyone involved.
Please note: we can only invite local children on non-school days. On other days, we will donate to the music school on your behalf, which will use the money to provide free music classes to local children.

Additional Information

This is ADVENTURE travel, and many of the destinations on this site are in remote, underdeveloped areas where unpredictability is the norm. Despite careful planning and organization, our adventure trips can’t be taken for granted like regular trips. Many of the places we visit lack the emergency health and safety services you’re used to in the developed world. Internal flights can be canceled, road transport is often uncomfortable and unreliable, and hotel standards may not match those of the West.

If you’re not prepared for this, you shouldn’t travel with us. The unpredictability also means that our itineraries are statements of intent, not contractual obligations. Factors such as weather, transport difficulties, and political instability might require us to change any itinerary. The trip leader will make any necessary changes after consulting with the group. Such changes are rarely significant, and we always do our best to minimize their impact. However, we cannot be held responsible for changes or delays, regardless of their cause.

What makes this trip different ?

Trekking Team Groups is one of the main supporters of Ambe Foundation, a non-political and non-profit social organization. We contribute our support to the remote village of Nuwakot and different schools like Gramin Devi, Khumbeshwori through donation, sponsorship and partnership in various projects. For details click here what we do and why we do?

Donation

Trekking Team Group donates a percentage of business profits to the foundation on a yearly basis, which supports the ongoing maintenance cost required for Gramin Devi and Khumbeshwori school, a community-based school in Nuwakot.

Sponsorship

One of the major activities of Ambe foundation is the children sponsorship program, which is conducted with full collaboration with Trekking Team Group.

Partnership (Volunteering Program)

The Ambe Volunteer Program, organised by Ambe Foundation and Trekking Team Group, aims to mobilize teams of experts and interested individuals as an effective and economic measure in providing the human capital for education, health and community development in Nuwakot District.
