The Khayer Lake Trek, combine with the Khopra Danda Trek, Munde Viewpoint, and Poon Hill Trek, is a great off-the-beaten-path journey.

Khayer Lake Trek, located in the Annapurna region, offers a captivating experience with its scenic beauty and cultural richness. This newly developed trekking route provides trekkers with breathtaking panoramic views of the Annapurna mountain range, including majestic peaks such as Mt. Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and Nilgiri.

Khayer Lake and Khopra Danda trekking route are designed to cater to trekkers seeking a unique destination in the Annapurna region. The trek features a blend of Gurung and Magar cultures, enhancing the journey with diverse cultural experiences. The views from Khopra Ridge are particularly stunning, showcasing the grandeur of the Himalayas.

The trek begins in Pokhara, where you embark on a pleasant and relaxing trail that gradually ascends from the temperate forested hillsides. Along the way, you’ll pass through traditional Gurung and Magar villages and navigate through forests of rhododendron, occasionally catching glimpses of local wildlife. In spring, the trail is adorned with the fragrant blossoms of orchids and Rhodendron.

Khayer Lake Trek is distinguished by its less-traveled paths, taking you through remote mountain ridges and pristine forests. A major highlight of the trek is the Munde Viewpoint, where you can witness a stunning sunrise over the Himalayas. From there, you continue to Khopra Danda, another spectacular viewpoint offering breathtaking vistas.

From Khopra Danda, you’ll embark on a tough 12-hour trek to Khayer Lake and back, crossing rough ridges.  After visiting the peaceful and sacred Khayer Lake, you will head back to Ghorepani. If there is snow on the trail and you’re not comfortable with walking along cliffs, it’s better to skip this part due to the added difficulty.

In Ghorepani, you’ll have the opportunity to hike to Poon Hill, another prime vantage point for panoramic mountain views. The trek concludes with your return to Pokhara, where you can unwind and reflect on your adventure. You can also explore other short treks such as the Ghorepani Poonhill Trek and the Langtang Trek.

Additional Information

This is ADVENTURE travel, and many of the destinations on this site are in remote, underdeveloped areas where unpredictability is the norm. Despite careful planning and organization, our adventure trips can’t be taken for granted like regular trips. Many of the places we visit lack the emergency health and safety services you’re used to in the developed world. Internal flights can be canceled, road transport is often uncomfortable and unreliable, and hotel standards may not match those of the West.

If you’re not prepared for this, you shouldn’t travel with us. The unpredictability also means that our itineraries are statements of intent, not contractual obligations. Factors such as weather, transport difficulties, and political instability might require us to change any itinerary. The trip leader will make any necessary changes after consulting with the group. Such changes are rarely significant, and we always do our best to minimize their impact. However, we cannot be held responsible for changes or delays, regardless of their cause.
